ESSENTIALS OF PROGRAM/PROJECT MONITORING & EVALUATION (LEVELS 1 & 2)
TARGET AUDIENCE: Program Managers and M & E officers, Project Coordinators and Supervisors
DESCRIPTION
Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) is a project management function that ensures and ascertains program success. Though often bundled together as M & E, they ought to be seen as two sub-functions under one function. The various activities under monitoring and evaluation blend with each other to ensure that program implementation activities are according to program design (monitoring), and ascertain program performance (productivity, results achievement, and impact) –evaluation. Monitoring and Evaluation also provides management and performance data that helps Project managers, Project officers, and stakeholders to ascertain project implementation experiences and lessons learned.
The Monitoring and Evaluation program is offered at two levels: Level one focuses on the Fundamentals of M&E and Monitoring tools and methods; while level two focuses on the fundamentals of Evaluation and various tools and methods, Information Management and Reporting
